Wrapping Up One Chapter, Starting Another

We just wrapped up a video series, and honestly, it brings up a lot of mixed emotions. On one hand, there’s a huge sense of relief. Finishing a series takes me a while, and getting it done feels like lifting a massive weight off my shoulders. But at the same time, it’s a little bittersweet.
As an editor, I spend weeks reliving these memories over and over. So when the final video is done, it feels like saying goodbye to those moments with my family. You know, those times when we disconnected from daily life and just enjoyed being together. The videos themselves serve as a vault. They’re there on YouTube forever, so even if I don’t want to watch them again right now, I know I can revisit them later when I’m ready.
But with every ending comes a new beginning. And honestly? That part excites me. A new series means a fresh slate. Sometimes I’ve upgraded my gear between trips, and it’s fun to see how it performs in real projects. Of course, new gear also means new mistakes, like realizing halfway through editing that a camera setting wasn’t right. Frustrating in the moment, but it’s all part of the process. You live, you learn, and you adjust.
One of my favorite parts of starting something new is building the creative world around it. Custom media assets and all the tiny details that most people won’t notice but I love. I even sneak in the occasional easter egg. Editing, creating, and experimenting is the part of YouTube that keeps me hooked.
What I don’t love? Social media. I’ve never been someone who enjoys posting all the time, but these days it feels like a necessity. Platforms practically demand that you post constantly just to reach your own followers. Luckily, Brandy helps with a lot of that side of things, especially responding to comments. If it were up to me, I’d probably write long, over-explained answers that no one asked for. I’d rather stay focused on editing, designing thumbnails, or coming up with fun B-roll to make the videos entertaining. That’s why you don’t hear from us as much as you do from other creators.
So yeah, wrapping a series is a mix of relief, nostalgia, and excitement. This next one is extra special because some family members joined us for the adventure, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.
